George Malliaras is an Associate Professor in
the Department of Materials Science and Engineering
at Cornell University and the Lester B. Knight
Director of the Cornell Nanoscale Facility. He
did his doctoral research in the University of
Groningen (the Netherlands), on photorefractivity
in polymers. Before joining the faculty at Cornell
in '98, he spent two years at the IBM Almaden
Research Center.
His research focuses on organic semiconductors
and their devices, with recent emphasis on their
applications in sensors. He is a member of the
American Physical Society and the Materials Research
Society. He is the recipient of the NSF Young
Investigator Award, the DuPont Young Professor
Grant, and a Cornell College of Engineering Teaching
Award. He is the chairman of the editorial board
